I am building a system for a friend and can't decide to go with an ATI Xpert 2000pro 32mb or a Leadtek Geforce 2mx200 32mb, this system will not be used for any real gameing, just a few flight sim's. Looking for a low cost system, only concern is getting the flight sim's to run smooth. The rest of the sys is

Amd 1.4ghz
ECS K7S5A
256mb micron DDR
WD 40gb ATA/100
Enermax 350w PSU

The price for the ATI and the Leadtek are about the same $39 for ATI and $46 for Leadtek. Any help or suggestion's are welcome.

Has anyone tried a PowerColor vidio card, Found a geforce2mx400 64mb W/TV-out for $75, I am a little nervous about trying a no-name card, a friend of mine got robbed with his that he picked up at a flea market.

Go for a "named" card, any GeF2 based card will be OK.

Cards by bigger companies will offer decent driver support. Don't use the drivers supplied with the card, get the latest ones from the maufacturers website.

Hercules also do the 4500XT, with the Kyro II chipset, which has had some very good reviews, especially in view of its price.

Cheaper vid. cards will seriously slow down any game, especially with a CPU like that.....

Some of this I agree with 101%

But no name brands tend to be skimpier on fans, heatsinks, and even quality of memory used... so get named brand for a few bucks more.

With that setup, I wouldn't go lower than a quality MX 400 card, you'd be selling yourself short with anything less.

The Leadtek will fun a bit faster but i think that the ATI will be ahead of it in video quality

Why dont you go with a 32mb Radeon. I think its the fastest 32 mb card out there. Correct me if im wrong.;)

Given your two choices that you plan to pick from , I would go with the ATI card. I have owned ATI and I would have to say from experience that their video quality is THE BEST BAR NONE!

DVD quality playback is also awesome. If your friend intends to run the occasional flight sim game then either card would be fine, but I would say the ATI is better and cheaper and performance would almost if not be the same in flight sim gaming.

By the way good choice on a super stable and great chipset based mobo, you have put together a terrific system for a very low cost.

Plus the ATI chipset has been around for a while and their driver support is decent.

Thank's Cisco Kid

The entire system is only going to cost aroung $420, thought that was a great deal, I paid about the same for for my celly 600 setup a few months ago. Now I wish I had waited.

No man. The Xpert2000 has gotten nothing but very bad reviews.

The GF2MX would be better.

Then the Radeon Le.
