These new BETA IDE drivers from VIA are optimized for use on the new P4X and KT, as well as the 233CF ATA133 southbridge. These are currently not included in any 4-1 service pack and may improve previous IDE problems on VIA chipsets also.

Yea, I installed these and now I have this little VIA program that starts up when I boot. Do you know if we need this running in order for the drivers to be working properly or is this just another little helper program that clogs up memory and slows my boot times?

I just close the program after I boot right now and have not noticed any difference. Generally I would not think that something like this would be needed for the drivers to work.
