I work in photoshop and like the image quality with my geforce 3, but from what I'm reading (between the lines) it looks like you're looking for an All-In-Wonder or radeon VIVO... some gaming ability and good 2D quality, and for much less than the geforce 3 is currently.

It should be able to handle sims just fine. Im not to sure about black and white though. If your putting togther a 1 ghz + rig then your fine. The all in wonder is a great card. Get the 32 mb version.

The All in Wonger Radeon is an excellent all around card and should have no problems with the sims and B&W. I'm not sure what it goes for but it might be under $200 by now.
If you don't mind spending the money look into the Asus GF3 Delux or the Gainward Power Pack III Golden Sample GF3 with TV/in. Both of these run about $350+.

A search on google.com will land numerous reviews.

It should work just fine with those apps. Correct me if I'm wrong but, those rely more heavily on the rest of your system's performance than on the vid card don't they? The GF3's 2D display should be just fine for them, it's your cpu, memory and HD that will really determine how fast they run.

All you need to get based on what you want to do is ATI " All In Wonder Radeon 32 DDR card"
If you read the reviews this card is a goodt 2d and 3d gaming card but where it excels especially for the cost is video editing, photoshop and video playback quality.
No other company can tough ATI when it comes to video playback quality. I sold my ATI rage Fury 32 w TV out and bought a ASUS Geforce 256 DDR Deluxe 32 card with vivo and TV Out and I have to say it can not touch the video quality of the ATI card I had, even my wife who just likes to watch movies out to the TV or on puter screen said this to me.
For the cost it is your best solution guaranteed you will be happy, card is gonna support alot of what will be coming....

If u wanna Cheap and worth it card then maybe my ASUS V7100 Pro (MX400) card can be ur choice
reasonable price and pretty good graphix I use it to play UT and the graphix are still kinda good but i dunno what u classify as good
but if u've got the money then go for the ASUS V8200 GF3 DELUXE
or maybe just the ASUS V8200 GF3 if u wanna save up some money but i would go for the Deluxe version cause the price is about the same.

The ATI Radeon is a great card. It is better than a GeForce2 but not as good as a GeForce3. The All-In-Wonder Radeon is just the ticket for you and can be had for around $200 USD.

i don't think the radeon is not better than a geforce2.......it really depends on what you do with the system

Yeah go with the Radeon 64mb ddr vi/vo. Great performance (not as powerful and geforce ultra but better than mx etc) and really really good picture quality. I own one and it works great.
Go 64 meg DDR Vivo.In bench mark tests it cleans up the competeors cards handly in 32 bit.Even a gforce cant keep up in frame rates in 32bit mode compairing card for card.{not a g3 vs a Vivo but a compairable gforce to the vivo 64 meg card.
Also I can tell you the video in and out features rock the planet.I burn 75 minute home moves on a cdr and get great picture quality.
I have never had such a quality video card that gives so many features and great picture quality, and strong 3d frame rates.

Another person who, it seems, didn't purchase thier extremely expensive, yet easily downloadable graphics program. There MUST be SOME way to stop piracy! I wish one was implimented soon.

You State clearly I did not purchess my SOFTWARE.I take this as offensive.Clearly your attempt to not see the word WARZ is simply foolish.I can't even begin to understand how you can make a comment like this and then defend it with a child like attitude.
Please let this drop as I can see you have no intention of retracting or evening understanding what you have posted.
Calm down, broham. It was directed at Gallego.
Gallego indirectly admitted he uses 3DS Max, and Poser 4. Those programs are far from cheap. If he's worried about not having enough money to purchase a card better than $400 (Like a $1200 professional GLoria card, or a 3D Labs Wildcat), then I guarantee he doesn't, and DIDNT have enough money to purchase 3D Studio Max and Poser 4 (Which by the way cost MANY, MANY multiples of $1200). Therefore, he either installed them off a friend's CD (Which is also illegal) or, as I said, downloaded the programs.
Get it? Good.

Where in this thread is any reference to making videos? Gallego is using 3DSMax and Poser 4, both of which he doesnt own. Those are not video editing programs.
