RIght now I have a 32 MG SDRAM Geforce 2 Mx 400 and i'm wondering if this would be compatible with Linux. Specifically Mandrake 8.0. Will it?

I have a GF2 Ultra and an MX(not the 400) and they both work fine in Mandrake 8 and game great! However I run SuSE, just like to test out several distro's to keep up to date. The MX400 should work I don't see any reason why it would'nt you will just have to dl and install the latest drivers from NVidia.

find the relevant kernel and GLX rpms.

and use rpm -Uvh <package> --nodeps --force

You may need to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 and make sure that the driver line says "nvidia"
