Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my ram so my 2500+ at 3200+ will be more effective w/ the same fsb. So should I get 1x512mb DDR400 or 2x256 DDR400 and run it on dual channel...Is one faster? Or are they the same?

AMD ATHLON XP 2500+ at 3200+

Get the one stick of 512. The performance gain you get from running dual channel is minimal (not worth it).

It would be better for you to get the larger stick, so if you want to upgrade to more memory later you wont have to sell your 256 sticks to free up a memory slot.

Get a larger stick so you can upgrade to a gig easier in the future. As mentioned dual channel doesn't help much on Athlons.
