View Full Version : program to ID hardware??
i need to ID a motherboard in a system...
and would be nice to see all other hardware installed also.
so what do we have available to us that will give us this info??
You might already have this --
SiSoft Sandra (http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/sandra)
Old reliable. Even tells you mobo BIOS revision.
problem with sandra, is all the test programs for benchmarks it installs...
i need just ID... and it needs to be run on a 1gb HDD
i feel sisoft is too big for this task, and i dont think it gives you specifics... like make and model of video card, modem etc...
i may well be wrong on that tho...
Yeah, Sandra has a lot of extra gunk in it. It does give you super indepth information, tho- down to the vendor ID and core stepping of my Geforce card, and the manufacturers of my RAM's chips. Maybe TOO much information. You can remove individual modules that do stuff you don't need, like erase the Bmark modules. I don't know any program that will just list all the hardware on a machine in a window or something.
BTW, The SiSoft directory on my machine is 6.33MB installed.

What about CPUid? I don't know if it gives you all of the information you're looking for, however.
On the overclockers.com page, scroll down.. it's under utilities --> user utilities.

I have what you need. It is a little proggie that I downloaded from a Borland Delphi site. I do not take credit for it, that credit goes to the creator of the proggie Michal Mutl.
I think it could help alot of people here.
so here it is.... (oh yea, ITS FREE)
That program is extremely awesome. Much better than Sandra for n2's needs!! I hope it's freeware, cuz I'm going to keep it:D
Thanks again, great resource and 99% accurate!

Oh, yea. Her is the version that you can put in the control panel.
Has its onw icon and everything.
You only need one or the other as they are exactly the same.
Edit: --> Sorry about the spelling... After having 5 32oz beers(That is about 14 normal beers), I am suprised that I am doing this good...
try checking all the parts for numbers or FCC IDs and then check the manufacturers website
