View Full Version : Athlon MP=Palamino MP=Palamino?
Well like the title says are these 3 differenent terms for the same cpu and if not whats the difference?
http://www.amd.com/news/virtualpress/roadmap.html
So if someone asks if a Palamino MP will work in their motherboard they really mean the Athlon MP and a Palamino is a different cpu?
Ok because someone said they bought a 1.2ghz Palamino MP and cant get it to work in their board so I went to amd to look thru the tech doc's on the cpu but non exist for a cpu by that name.
I looked at the roadmap in my top post and did not see any such cpu either.
I guess I need to ask the person to be more specific.
Thanks.

I don't think you're allowed to use MPs in singularity, need a dual board, that's his problem. Athlon 4 desktops are available for order, just no OEM chips on the market yet, I guess...

it might be but I'M Not so sure, we'll have to wait untill the dektop palimino comes out tho.

From an articule I read I don't believe that any of the new chips will be called Palimino. This was the name used in the amd guide to up coming chips. But is not the official name. Athlon 4 is the official name, I believe if you are looking on the amd website you will need to look under Athlon 4 (for the desktop version) Athlon MP for the Multi (this is the first chip released by amd with multi processer support there is no tbird version)
I don't know the official name for the mobile version.
