View Full Version : My Case Wiring Is Bad - HELP!

My case isn't that big, so it's tough to organize the wires. My motherboard is an NF7-S, which has the bad design of having the motherboard connectors to the left of the heatsink, which means they must go around the heatsink to get there. My wires are like covering the RAM and there's like no room to move them, but I know you guys probably have some ideas for how I can fix them up. Miraculously, my temps are still amazing, despite the major air flow restrictions presented by the wires. 22C Case temps and 38C for CPU (load) with my mobile at what my sig says... oh and that's with my Tornado on very low (can barely hear :santa2: )

There are lots of things that you can do. First of all you can run your wires behind your mobo and have them come out directly to where they are needed. You can also sleeve your wires and cut them to the lengths that will allow them to connect with out the excess wire baggage.

Wow I didn't know you could cut them... I guess you cut them, then reattach the connector on the end or something? That could be tricky or dangerous (could mess it up). And by behind the mobo, do you mean behind the mobo itself or behind the mobo tray?

Sorry I meant running them behind the tray. Cutting the wires is not as dangerous as you may think. You cut lengths out of the middle of the wires then strip them and twist them back together. From there you can use some electrical tape to make them safe once more. Although this looks a little ghetto, if you sleeve your wires, you will never see the electical tape. Also there have been a few threads about how to do this. Do a search of the forums to find them.
Common sense post of the day:
Don't cut them when the PSU is on.
Hehe, on the more serious side, your airflow from the bottom intake to the top exhaust looks fine. It will just look cleaner if you rearrange the wires by the drives.

Thanks for the advice guys, I did some changes and stuffed my unused cables behind the mobo tray and then stuffed the ones that were being used in hidden areas ;)

Much better. Well if you cut the wires when it is on, you get to find out which ones are hot :) . Looks good now though.

Ah I have the same problem with my big ol ATX power cable... I see how you wrapped it up and behind the heatsink... but can the heatsink get warm enough to hurt it? I mean i'm not going to let my processor get over 50*C, so the heatsink shoulden't get hot enough to hurt the cable could it? (SP-97).
From what it looks like in your picture, you stuffed the cables in front of your only intake fan which is a big no no. That will give your worse airflow than your previous old wiring setup.
He said that he had put it behind the mobo tray...
Also, the only cables I can see that are going under infront of the intake are a SATA cable, to simply come back out, I think it isn't that bad because its up against the back wall. Second cable is a power cable that I assume is going to the fan, and last set of cables are the front bezel midi connectors.
Edit: sorry 'bout that wiseguy rant. :)
You did a great job on the cleanup!
Really, now the ram is way better into the flow, and the flow is overall better because of the lesser air turbulence.
Air goes in. Air goes out. Air goes in. Air goes out.
And the world becomes a better place!

The wires that I have there are taped to the bottom so that they are nearly completely below the incoming air :D
great job, now you need to get round cables for those nasty IDE cables!
and sleeve that sucker! it will look ten times better! and it will be easier to work with, no more of those stupid single wires getting stuck on things!
