View Full Version : how're the Super-Flower/TTGI PSU for OC???
hi,
how're the Super-Flower/TTGI PSU for OC???
what're the people's experience with them??
are Super-Flower/TTGI PSU any good???
thanks :)
Go here (http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=252752) to learn about power supplies and what to look for. Larva and the others in this thread will lead you down the path of glory...
thanks for that article :)
But i'm more interested in people's opinon or experience
of Super-Flower/ or TTGI PSU in particular ;) thanks

I would suggest a fortron over the superflower/ttgi - the superflower/ttgi have been reported having low rails.

I used one (300-350W) a while back and it was fine for the system I used it in. But it was light in weight (not a good sign) of quality. With that said, I just bought another one (550W) the other day :bang head. The price was right ($30) and I need around 18A and the 550W says the 12V is @ 22A. I don't know if it will live up to what I hope, but if not my other system has a good PSU that will, and I will just swap them.
From reviews I've read, the low watt models are fine for basic, non-OC use but don't OC very well. The high watt models seem fine for OCing, though. I have a 420-watt TTGI running an NF7-S and a 2500+ OCed to 3200+. The rails are fine.

Thats good to hear, I was a little woried about it. :)

I just bought a pair of the 550 watt, 4 fan units recently- one as a needed replacement which is installed and the other sitting around waiting. ;)
The one I am using now is doing fine with an XP1600@1900mhz- 5v runs between 4.84 and 4.87 volts.
That range is very reliable too: it made me a bit nervous at first, but has stayed exactly the same as I ramped speed up from 1400mhz to the current overclock.
To tell the truth, the power supply that died and had to be replaced was Fortron 350 watt unit that I had for a year- voltages started out higher with the Fortron, but dropped lower by the time I got to 1900mhz.
That's my experience...your mileage may vary. ;)

If you don't mind me asking, how is the 12V rail? And do you know if there are any pots to adjust the rails or are they just set.
Thanks,
Stedeman

12v is sitting around 12.22 or so.
Not sure about adjustments as I haven't looked inside yet or looked for that info myself.
I'll check inside though. ;)
Edit-
No pots inside. :(
There may be a mod for these things though...and now you have me going. ;)
Edit Edit-
Did some research there MAY be a pot after all: hidden under the PCB and under the ac plug.
Disassembling a psu now. :D

New post for clarity.
TTGI TT-550SS (Superflower 550w psu)
There is a pot. :)
It adjusts the 5 and 12 volt rails.
It is a bit hard to find in the mass of wires in the 4 fan unit, but if you move things so that you can actually SEE the circuit board you will find it.
Note that the adjusting "knob" is glued on fairly securely: I broke mine off while adjusting it. ;)
Fortunately, the pot underneath is still fine.
Results:
(Tested with multimeter, psu jumped on)
Before- 4.95/11.9
After- 5.2/12.1
So this unit has another plus as far as I'm concerned.
All I need to do now is move the pot so I can adjust voltage while running. :D

 Now I can't wait to get it in

Me getting you going, got me going :p I found a decent review of the PSU and it shows a pic of the location of the pot  (I should have bought more when they where $30) http://www.xtremesystems.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=Seviews&file=index&req=showcontent&id=8&page=2
