THe thermistor on my mobo is too tall. I can't fit my AMD on flatly. AS a result the cpu is tilted slightly. Should I push the thermistor down a bit?
Also can anyone suggest any good sites for teaching newbies building their PC's? (Not including overclockers of course!)
It's supposed to be like that, push the cpu into the socket the thermistor will bend and touch the back of the processor nicely :-)
Try to put a *tiny* bit of thermal paste on the thermistor too - helped my system give slightly more 'real' temps.

I'd not push the cpu down directly on the thermistor because the core is fragile and you might damage it.
Take a lint free clothe and bend the thermistor down slowly. Then try to reseat the cpu.
I tried the other route of pushing it down with the cpu and found that the cpu pins or the core it's self could get damaged in a slip up.
Good luck.

THE THERMISTOR IS very hard to bend. I neeed to apply a large force!! will this damage it??
