I have a 1.4 athlon with a 3dfx voodoo 5500 card.
I scored a whopping 677 benchmark.
What gives?
I had a 32MB SDR nVidia GeForce2 MX w/ TV- OUT , I played quake2 and quake3 with it and they both looked AWFUL !!
So I put in the 3dfx card and the games looked great.
I thought this was a good card , what gives?

This is because 3Dmark 2001 is kin of like an Nvidia benchmark. It is almost Anti-3dfx :)
But it doesnt matter if you get 600, or 6000 in the benchies, try it out on REAL games! And then tell us what you think... :)

I have tried it on Quake 2 and 3 and it looks and plays awesome, Falcon 4.0 as well as Blood 2 I realize these are all older games.
My system is a Compaq 7000 series
1.4, 266 athlon
128 mb of pc2100 ( 256mb more on the way to me.)
4x agp slot
Soundblaster 5.1
60gb 7200rpm HD
The hardware T&L used with the geforce cards is heavily benchmarked with 3dMark. I don't suggest you worry about the score, the voodoo is a better card than the benchmark scores... not too much better, but definitely a geforce 2 MX or Radeon contender. You will start running into problems with newer games since most are being written for hardware T&L and open GL, both of which the voodoos have always been behind on. So long as it's glide you'll be good to go... try some UT, that will look very nice.
