Ok i want to order a IDEQ200S ( http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=56-115-004&depa=0 ) barebone and i already have a 2.4A GHz 533MHz FSB, Prescott Core, 1MB L2 Cache ( http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=19-116-178&DEPA=0 ). There is a bios update on the motherboard to get it to support prescott. I downloaded it on my comp and its a bin file. I was wondering what to do with it to make the bios update. Im guessing you put it on a floppy and can run it that way. I will need to update it before it will read the cpu so there is no way i could boot into any os. Please help me out

yes but will the computer boot into bios without a supported cpu?
you need to run the bios update before it will support the prescott.
I think i can borrow a supported cpu from someone to make the update just tell me if i need to.

i found the way to update them on biostars site, i think this way should work, but is still dont know if you need a cpu to boot into bios. http://www.biostar.com.tw/technical/faq/question.php3?type=G&id=42

With my experience you can boot into BIOS if you have a video card and RAM installed. I have not needed to put a chip in.

I've never seen a computer do anything but beep without a CPU installed.
