Well, everything in my system will be 1/2" ID except my pump (Maxi-Jet 1200). So, I'll probably need some fittings to convert it from it's sizes. What would be a good kind of physical store to buy fittings at? Would a plumbing store work? I've already tried Home Depot and Lowes, and all they have are regular male-2-male barbs. I doubt I could just force a 3/8" ID hose on to a 1/2" barb, eh (especially when it's the braided hose)?

Well I got all my fittings at Lowe's, 2 3/8th males, 1 1/2 male, 1 1/2 female, 1 5/8th male connectors. They were lacking in the hose department though, only 3/8th and 5/8th. You have to get someone to help you find it, without that guy helping me, I would have never found all the fittings.

If not that, I went to my local hardware store, called Young's Hardware, and picked up these galvanized steel reducers. They didn't have the exact size I needed so I had to use a nipple with pipe thread on it to connect the two reducers together. Once all put together, minus the barbs, the reducer stands at 3.3 inches tall and weighs just under a pound I guess.
