View Full Version : Ok I'm confused about PE
Take a look at this (http://www.hisdigital.com/html/atipcie_promote.htm). It lists a Platinum Edition X800XT and a non-platinum one. Both have the IceQII cooling system. What's the difference between the two? What makes a card PE for god's sake?
Also in HIS main product page (http://www.hisdigital.com/html/VGA.htm) they list only 1 X800XT IceQII and it's the PE.
I'm very confused. I ordered one, and I'm not sure now what I will get!

You ordered one? From where? They have them in stock?
For PCI-Express, there are two ATI X800 models. The XT and the XT PE. They both have 16 pixel pipelines and the only difference between the two is clock speeds. The XT has a core/mem clock of 500/500 and the XT PE is 520/560.
For AGP, there is the X800 PRO and X800 XT PE. The PRO has 12 pixel pipelines and is clocked at 475/450. The XT PE has 16 pixel pipelines and is clocked at 500/500 (same as its PCI-E counterpart).

Your information is not correct according to www.hisdigital.com.
I live in Hungary. I've ordered the X800 XT IceQII AGP. I wasn't aware there are 2 different versions of it. Actually I am not sure there are 2 versions of the X800 XT IceQII. HIS website lists (http://www.hisdigital.com/html/x800xt_iceqii.htm) the IceQII verison of the XT only as PE!. Also, it has 560/260 (1.12GHz divided by 2).
Still, I'm very confused!

the XT PE core is clocked @ 520 - not 500
there is
X800PRO
X800 XT
X800 XT PE

The platinum ed has VIVO, which is an TV output encoder. PE also has 2 DVI ports and not one. Thats the difference

Sorry I made a mistake in my original post. There is only one XT flavor for AGP and it is clocked at 520/560. There are not two XT flavors for AGP, if you ordered an AGP X800 XT, you ordered the XT PE with the IceQ II cooler clocked at 520/560. There are two X800's in PCI-E flavor, look on the ATI site. They have X800 XT Platinum Edition's and regular XT's for PCI-E, and XT PE's and PRO's for AGP.
