Hello, I got my sapphire x800pro vivo today... Tested it, and performed just great!! As everyone else, I wanted to softmod it to Xt - pE, and did so, but found it a bit unstable with the ati x800xt bios. So, flashed back to a "backup" bios I made with ati tool (dump bios to disk). And from the next powerof, the card didnt work...
So, I know it's possible to start the machine with a PCI card, and then flash the x800pro with a working bios.
The question is, how? Anyone have any experience with this? How do I get flashrom to flash the agp card, does it "understand" which card to flash? is there a command to make sure i flash the right card?
Hope to get positive advice that can help me in my misery!
Thanks in advance! I would really be happy if anyone could shed some light on this issue.

I have had a bad BIOS flash happen. You can, IF the card will allow boot up past the POST, type in the commands blind. As in load the boot floppy and type the commands with no display. It can be done with a lil; practice though and should get the card back for you.
Another option is to install a PCI video card and use it so you can see to type the commands to the AGP card. In the flash command when you type the '0' that indicates the adapter you are flashing. So your attempts should work assuming you understand that the PCI card will not be at the '0' position. The commands you use should be the same as doing it without a second video card.

Hey, thanks for reply!
0 Is for "agp", and 1 is for pci then? So, as long as I use the command 0, it will flash my agp card?

so, I should try: "flashrom -p -f 0 x800pra16.bin" ?
and then it will go for agp right?

Great! By the way, after removing the PCI card, does flashrom still report your x800 as adapter 1? Or has it reverted back to 0?

flashrom -i says that 0 is the primary adapter (i.e the one I booted from).
So, now its 0 again. :)
Just happy to having it working again! :)! AHH!!!! :)
Looks like there's no need for me to reply to your other thread then :)

Thanks for replies, wouldn't have known about "-i" and "1/0" commands if not for you ppl. And had I ****ed this, flashing the other card instead... I'd thrown a x800pro out the window, and had to buy a new pci card to a friend of mine. So thanks for help ppl, all of you!
Guess I'm a bit happy atm :)
Cheers!
