I have had 3 fail during july. :bang head

Fijitsu 10 gig This drive may still be under warranty but it was purchased by a large systems builder have no way to RMA it...but I got it free.

WD 15 gig - (2 months out of waranty)

IBM Deskstar 30 gig, yea, yea, yea, I know, it lasted longer than most and I should have expected it - mfg NOV-2000....9 months out of warranty.

Just think how much more room you'll have in your case now with only one drive that's three times the size. Can't go wrong with Seagates 5 yr warranty...

None of them were in the same machine...as a matter of fact all of them were the only drive in the machine....

Silver Lining...bad things happen in threes... ;)

Check Fujitsu's site and try to RMA it directly thru them.

I've RMA'd things before that I got "free". In fact, I just got an MSI board in today...an older 655 Max-FISR. One of the instructors at school had it in her home PC, and it went belly up. The tech guy at school replaced it the day before I started my internship there.. He asked her if she wanted to RMA it, and she had no clue what he meant...he explained, and she said "Hell..it's a $59 board. If you want it you can..."

He looked at me and asked if I wanted it. Dang straight. :D Filled out the RMA form at MSI's site that night, and got approved the next day no questions asked.

I once pulled a WD 200EB drive out of a dumpster behind a local repair shop...sure enough, checked WD's site, and it was under factory warranty. I filled out the online RMA form and for $8 shipping, got a refurb that's still in use today.

It can't hurt to try..... ;)

FWIW...I've had good luck w/ Maxtors. ;)

I'm nervous my maxtor will fail me and I have no back ups because of the shear amount of crap i have.. my friends had over 4 maxtors die on him alone. then again he wrapped one of his western digials in ducttape to stop it fro making so much noise. it still works though..

Buy wester Digital raptors they have a 5 year warrenty

also a DVD burner is great for backing up things. Such as i backed up farcry and made ISOs of it and they all fit on 1 dvd with a backup of NFSU and halo all on 1 disc

DVDs really come in handy
