I saw some stuff on the shelf at Radioshack the other day, called "Component Cooler" or something. Obviously, being the obsessive cooler I am, I picked it up, and it says it's used to cool electronic equipment below freezing! Sweet! It also says it leaves no residue and "May cause frostbite"!!! So I had to have it :D Especially for only $6.99! Took it home and tried it out on a pair of scissors to test, then on my heatsink, outside my system(which isn't working) and you spray it on and everything gets coated in a white frosty substance, which almost instantly evapourates, leaving your heatsink REALLY cold!!
I was going to wait until I got my system up and running to share this so I could show some concrete temps, but I can't hold this knowledge anymore without sharing! So head down to Radioshack and see if yours carries it! This stuff is so awesome I want to find a way to attatch the cans to my case so I can just hit a button for INSTA-cool!! :D Good luck, happy cooling!

YOu can do the same exact thing with a can of compressed air, and canned air is cheaper (2 x 10oz cans for $7).
All you have to do it turn the canned air upside down, and spray that way... try it. But watch your skin.

What use would that be though?
the only use i could see for using that would be for flash overclocking.... i dont imagine you are going to be spraying your heatsink with that stuff every few seconds you are using your PC.

whats the use? some times your need below freezing temps to post or start up and then the comp runs fine.

if you use that you might crack your cpu, because of the temprature change

Something i have been thinking about along those same lines, but im not sure how to implement it, is to use a water mister. Set it up so that it keeps the surface of the heatsink wet, then the evaporation will keep the heatsink cool, and therefore cool the CPU. Any ideas.

well i was reading this post ad i saw that a can of air will make things cooler so i started spraying some on my cpu and i was running at 54c my temps went down to 47c with a can of air. this would work to just get your comp to post.

exactly what I was thinking, invert the can of air and lett 'er rip untill you feel it is cold enough, switch on comp.

Condensation? Anyone?
Waterproof the MB all you want, but the pins of your CPU can't be insulated.

The stuff evapourates almost instantly in non-moving air...I think it should come off pretty quick when you have 38 cfm of air moving over the area...I just thought it would be a good fix for cooling down a CPU under stress, like almost instantly take your load temp down from a 44 to a 35, and then it has to slowly heat up again.
Hey...I'm going to try squirt some of this stuff underwater, see what happens, might be a really good way to fix a warm water resevoir for you water coolers out there...
