Hey all, not sure if anyone here is a techy about these things but I'm in need of some serious help!

I just got a Nomad 10gb Jukebox that does not work. It powers up, boots up, but freezes at "Building Library" and I can hear the hard drive spin, spin, spin repeatedly, but nothing happens and the unit is frozen.

I tried swapping out the hard drive for one I had from a Treo 10gb MP3 player, but I get a "Critical Error - OS missing"

Is there any way I can fix this thing? Creative wants $200 to replace it, even though it cost me $80 in the first place (BS!!)

Here's hoping...

hmm i have an idea, i have a 6 gig version of that, if you have a laptop and know how to use linux a bit i could send you a raw image of the drive, and you could write it to that treo disk.

Hey man,

I don't have a laptop or any linux experience but I have friends who do!

Maybe you could send me a quick step-by-step instruction deal, and the files required?

Thanks so much

Cheers

They want $200 to replace it? what about a warranty?
You could just buy a new one for $80

I have a Nomad Zen Xtra 30gb, not sure how different/similar the two are, but...is there a tiny reset button on there by chance? If there is, might want to try that...

Edit: With the original hard drive of course. :)

Syx - the unit is no longer under warranty, so it's $200 to replace it with a refurbished unit. Creative said they don't repair the units, so I asked where they get the $200 "refurbished" ones.....

Pcgirl - Hit the reset button with no luck. I think the drive might be shot so a copy of the O/S on a new drive might be the only fix.
