What type of cooling are you guys running and how many volts are you running into those chips? I'm running my 3.0C at the moment at 3.9ghz, but I'm going to need more than 1.75v to keep it stable. I'm watercooling though, and my temps are very low. Idle I'm at 30 degrees, and full load no more than 40, these temps are taken with my probe under the heatsink. Should I stick with lower voltages? Or are my temps good enough that the chip will last a little while?

I say giver'
Most will say 1.65-1.7vcore max.

way too many volts u could start getting degeneration of chip see s.n.d.s sticky. other than that nice o/c. :)

I'm starting to hear about Northwoods gradually degrading over time even with vcore between 1.65v to 1.7v. So, if you ask me, 1.75v is too high even with cold H2O.

My 3.2c has degraded twice since I have had it. Still the performance drop is not visual, I must admit thought at 3.84@1.65 vcore did feel fast. Soon I should have a pressy and use the northwood as a backup...gives me room to kill the pressy but after hearing about the mobo dying instead of the cpu, I might have to rethink my ill-fated plan. I have only ever run my cpu at 1.7v but it was about an hour to reach 4.0Ghz...I can atleast say I got there right?

On the IC7-Max3 I hace cut up a heatsink to use as mini heatsinks...cant remeber the right name for them....anyone?

I've had my 3.2C @ 3.71 for some weeks, at 1.65v in bios (cpu-z says around 1.616v), and under a Zalman CNPS 7000A Al-Cu with the fan at its max. setting. No probs so far, and the cpu is still running without signs of SNDS.

Idle temps were 35ºc and 53ºc at full load, with an ambient temp of 30ºc. Not bad considering the quiet HSF.

Also, I wouldn't go over 1.65v actual in any northwood CPU.

3.0C at 3.9 with 1.5 vcore on abit ic7 cooled with sp94 w/ 120 mm fan on adaptor.

MBM reported temps:
45 idle
58 prime load peak

I've been considering those temp readings at 10 too high based upon what I've read at the abit forum.

3.2E DO at 3.75 GHz with only 1.4 vcore....im using an SP-94 with 92mm fan with 7 volts.....46C @ idle, 60C @ full load...

see my sig for temps and o/c my volts are 1.55 cpu-z says 1.52, so i aint too worried about s.n.d.s

Jojo1971 60°c at full load is a bit high i think

P4 3.2EE at 4080mhz, with 1.8 volts, mach2 cooled. If they do release a 3.6 478 EE, I may sacrifice this cpu to the 1.85 gods and see what shes got left.

1.8  how long have you been running it with 1.8?

1.8 is mega dodgy my chip temp go up a lot with pumping 1.6 volts through let alone 1.8 lol it would fry and say bye bye to me in such a short time

Lets see, I have been at 1.8 since beginning of the year I think. Once I saw all those people with the cascades and crap using 1.8 and above to go, I said why not. Now I would not put 1.8 on my 3.4 Northwood, I dont think :)

Machine has a good number of hours on it, was my main gaming machine before the fx53 machines came online. Now it shall encode music/video until I need the mach2 for another project.

I do think the abit max3 board undervolts the cpu compared to whats reported in bios, but it works so I aint gonna research it.

I'm just a tiny bit over 3.7ghz, but I'm running at 1.6v actual (digital voltmeter verified) I've modded the ADP3180 regulator on my motherboard so that it doesn't droop even so much as .01v when under load... Temps stay between 33c idle and 41c full load at this speed, using a DTek White Water CPU block.

If I leave my X800XTPE card at Pro speeds (475/450) I can get 3.8ghz stable; I'm not 100% sure how these two relate as it doesn't seem to be dragging down my powersupply at all. I've even tested with running multiple power supplies (Antec 480TP for video, TTGI 550 for the main system) and 3.8 still wasn't stable while my video was OC'd... GO freakin' figure :(

Video card stays at approximately the same temps as my CPU: 31c idle and 43c while ATI Tool runs it's heatup phase on a DD Maze 4 block.
