Well the title say it all.....which one to get? My mobo is an IC7-Max3....

I will make my purchase in the end of the month because of the nexr price cut...

Thanks!

my vote is 3.2 prescott, but its gonna depend on your ability and willingness to deal with heat hassles.
i like the prescott series alot better myself.

Like I was saying, I will watercool...so heat is less a worry :)

BTW how prescott are folding VS northwood?

from what ive gathered from the folders is they beat the northwoods with the cache helping it.
well it may be less a worry but when you see your h20 setup doing air cooled temps a northwood gets you may look at it differantly.

i feel you will like it and prefer you went that route over the NW but i just want you not to have suprises i did when i bought into the prescotts.if your prepared then its fun,if not its a pita to own a prescott at times.

Can I hope to reach 4ghz with watercooling a prescott??

I was really aware of buying a prescott, but if they overclock higher, perform better in folding and of course the 1mb cache....I might consider it! Nevertheless I just don't want to toast my mobo :D

ic7 max3 is the best mobo for the job imo.
id still take the heatsinks off and replace them with as5 and larger sinks.but may well be fine the way they are.

if i didnt hit 4ghz with a 3.2E and h20 id be mad myself.
it isnt a given but thats the best combo i can say that will do it if anything will.
many do 4.2ghz with that combo and that was on air.but as we as ocers know we always are never that lucky, its theother guy who has all the luck! :/

Of wich heatsink are you talking about?

Of wich heatsink are you talking about?under the oates blue casing the sinks on the mosfets abit did.
they are stuck on with thermal tape and are small and light weight ive been told.
people coing prescotts with this mobo have found its more stable after the ramisnks were redone.
it isnt that big an issue but its been one where the heat was enough to melt the tape off one persons ramsink and the thing just fell off.

Ok but the only thing I don't get it is how you can paste the ramsink if you apply AS5?

Deathstar uses AS paste in the middle and then a dab of super glue in each corner. I tend to use AS epoxy which is completely permanent.

latley i have yes as i cant find as3 epoxy locally.i need a newegg order soon to get some.
i use that on the corners and just plain as5 in the center.i dont like permanant jobs as i switch parts to much.

OK and just by putting some AS on the heatsink it reduced the PWM temps...it is a good thing to know :D

So do the same thing go for the P4C800x??

So do the same thing go for the P4C800x??definetly and add a fan over the top half of the mobo since you dont have a cpu fan moving that hot air out.

well I have four fans in my watercooled comp. Two 80mm intake in the front, one 120mm intake blowhole for my radiator, and an 80mm exhaust in the back.
