Would it be better to install games on the same hd as the os or a totally different hd??
And if so why is it better?
I read it was better to install Doom on a totally different hd..
I don't really think it makes a difference. I have all of my games installed on my D: drive and they run without a hitch. It's no different than running any other program from another drive.

I generally install my games on a separate partition (on the same drive) just to keep fragmentation from affecting my OS performance.

all of my stuff is installed on the same drive with no problems at all
I like to keep my OS drive as clean as possible so this is how I do it

Are those just seperate partitions or a dynamic disk?
C, D, E are one disk partitioned 3 ways. G is one 80gig disk. Before I got the second 80g drive I always ran three partitions, I find my comp run much smoother and feels somewhat faster than using one partition for everything, disk maintenance (Defragging) is much faster as well. :)
