I just bought a T-Bird 1.33 GHz and an MSi K7T Turbo Raid
I put the thermal conpound on the chip (a bit messy anyways).
I booted the computer for the first time, and it shows 1000 MHz
at startup.
I tried to fix this up at the bios, but i've seen something that scared me : the CPU temp was at 52° C !!! For only 1GHz, so i didn't even try to boot it at 1.33 GHz. What should i do ? I really think it's too much for only 1 GHz. What should i do ? Help !!!

First off, it sounds like you're running on a 100FSB

Second, when you say 'a bit messy'? what do you mean? did you only put the compound on the core? and a thin layer (too much and it acts as an insulator).

And what cooling d'you have?

Yes, i'm running in 100 MHz FSB, does it have something to do with temp ? About the "bit messy", it's because i've put some around the chip. I tried running it at 1.30 GHz (13 x 100 MHz) and the Temp started rising (57° C) and this is just at the bios, the Hard Drive is empty for now, no OS, nothing, so it should be worse when the CPU will be at full load.
I noticed in the bios that we couldn't go over 132 for FSB.
The heatsink is a "Platinium" (i dont know about heatsinks).
So what's the answer ???

Well I'm not too familiar with that mobo, is there a jumper setting that will allow 133FSB? there should be.

Also you really don't want the compound on the chip itself, you'd be better cleaning it up and reapplying a thin coating on the core, by thin I mean a scrape.

Sounds to me like your cooler isn't very good either, but try reapplying the compound that might help a bit, also make sure your heatsink is on correctly.

Raising the FSB won't do much to your cpu temp as you'll be running at around the same speed (just a lower multiplier), but if you're getting 57c there's definitely something wrong somewhere.

You were right about the jumper, i removed it now.
By the way, about the 266 FSB (DDR) stuff, how can we run the CPU at 266 ? I only have SDRam, so i'm not sure it's possible even if the mainboard supports the fonction.
What do you think about it ?

DDR means Double Data Rate, the cpu and memory will both run at 133Mhz but with DDR, that's what gives you 266Mhz, or faster if you up the FSB

But can i run the CPU at 266 FSB if i only have SDRam ?
By the way, when i put the FSB at 133, (1.33 GHz), the Temp quickly climbed to 60°C, so i had to shut down the computer.

Hell yeah

It's not literally running at 266, just the equivalent because it's double rate i.e. 2x133

As long as you've decent quality PC133 memory you should be able to hit at least 140FSB easily (280DDR).

I have Micron PC133 memory and I'm running quite happily at 155FSB (310DDR).

But you definitely need to sort out your cooling m8, d'you have any case fans as well?

Yeah, i've got the standard one that goes with the power case.
There are two slots for front and bake intake fans, but i've only put the front one (even if there's no air intake at the front...) because there are only two power plugs for fans (one for the cpu) and the second plug was too far from the back of the case so i could put the fan at the back.
That's it for the fans. (CPU case temp is around 32° C)

The standard fans suck, you're best going for some decent 80mm ones with the 4-pin connectors so you can connect 'em direct to your PSU.

I have 2x80mm blowing in, a 120mm blowing down onto the cpu & mobo, and an 80mm blowing out, plus a Taisol fan/heatsink on the cpu. Idle temps are around 24c (cpu) - 20c (case), load 33-35c (cpu), 22c (case).

Investing in some decent cooling will make a big difference believe me. Especially if you've any intentions of overclocking

There is a jumper somewhere on the mobo to set it too 133fsb.

In most cases the temp will be lower if u bump up the fsb and put down the multipilere

Some questions about your cooling. What case do you have and where did you attach the 120mm blowing down? I am asking because I am trying to design my cooling and it sounds to me like you have the same case as I do. Thanks.

First off, set your FSB to 1.33 and your multiplier to 10.
Make sure the HSF is seated properly.
Checkout this tweak for KT133A chips;

The ones you want to change are register 52 to EB and 76 to D2.
This will drop your temps 5-12c and helps w/ system lock ups.
It is very simple, just follow the instructions.

Don't be misleaded by the reading of that MSI board. It shows awfull high temp readings. I had this board before and red many articles about the too high temp indications. I heard a couple of times that you had to deduct 6 - 7 degrees C.
And they were right. After I replaced the K7 Turbo for my current K7T 266 Raid, my temp readings went down by 8 degrees (Temp reading in BIOS).

I have the exact same board as you and the temps on my duron 900 (not OC) are 48-50 C idle and 54 Full Load. I e-mailed MSI and they said that it's very normal cause the thermistor is touching the cpu directly not like other mainboards. But I'm still thinking cause I have an Alpha PAL6035, used to have the PLATINUM but it was too not good, but my temps are still high. I can't believe that my core is that hot. On a FIC my temps were 8-9 C cooler. I don't know why. If you really want the PLATINUM to work you have to scrape off the pink thing under the heatsink and put on some real thermal paste.
