I've been playing some games today well mainly doom 3, but sometimes i hear my hdd/hdd's making weird noises like they are turning off and on. Whenever i come back to windows from my game, everything is frozen. My temps are in the lower 40's after playing my games so i know its not a temp problem. Any ideas?

Check cables and if its fine, your HD is probably dying, but lets hope not! =P

make sure that the drive isn't sharing the power plug with any fans
fans seem to take away power from the hdd and it gets unstable

Checking the cables is a good idea, but running the manufacturer's diagnostics would be a much better idea. They can be downloaded from the manufacturer's site, since the HDD's manufacturer is not listed, or there's a hard drive diagnostics sticky with the links here:

A better method of checking for voltage instabilities is to use a monitoring program. Mother Board Monitor 5 (MBM5) is usually pretty good and can be configured to log the voltages over time. It's available here:

If the harrdware checks out well, then it may be an application problem. Sometimes, it does take a while for programs to release all of the resources being used.
