Well thanks for letting us be the guinea pigs. lol. I have it running and everything is fine. All of my Adobe products (Photoshop, Premiere, etc.) are fine so is Doom 3 and Office 2003 was uneffected. The only thing I noticed was that it reinstalled MSN messenger all by its self right after the reboot. Other than some security updates I'm not seeing any difference. All in all the upgrade to SP2 was simple and without problems.

he doesn't he has an unofficial release, that someone posted. Just wait till the official sp2 comes out and someone will testify as to how well (or doesn't) perform.

Why do you say I don't have the final release? SP2 build 2180 is the final version of SP2 as far as I know right now.

All of these sites seem to say that build 2180 is the final RTM version. Do you just mean that it's not official until it shows up on Windows Update? Or have a lot of people been tricked into believing this is it when it really isn't?

it is unofficial. It is not signed by microsoft. I could say that I have the official release and just have hacked it to say build 2180 and changed the name. Not challenging your authority or anything like that. Who knows what that could do to people's systems. It may be done in testing, but it was only send to OEMS, so that means that there still could be bugs in it. If Zatrix is worried that it won't work with some programs, I personally believe that it is in his best interest to wait until it is official from Microsoft.

I did not get any warnings that said that it was unsigned. Therefore I just assumed it was signed, could be wrong on that though. Would I have got a warning?

So is this statement correct; It is the Official SP2 RTM but maybe not the Final version we will see of it?

If so how long will OEM's have it before they release a Final version?

can't tell yeah. Microsoft says by the end of the month we may have it. My point is that I rather be safe than sorry.

Ah, there will be no damage. All of my media and text docs are on a seperate drive. If something goes wrong it will give me something else to do.

Was my statement correct? And what will the final build be called, I don't mean the number? Like there was SP2 RC2 and now SP2 RTM, so what will the final distribution be called?

Yeah I hear you I put all my docs et al, on a seperate harddrive for the just the same reason. My guess that the name will be simply sp2. For all I know I could be entirely wrong and Sp2 final could be what you have and then you can pm me and make fun of me, but I don't trust microsoft.

There will be no making fun of you. People at this thead are also skeptics.

Like you said it sounds like the OEM's will test it and if they find any bugs then they will report to Microsoft and a build 2181 may be released. I do know that where I download it from no longer has it avialable so that a good sign that you are probably correct.
