Alright... I have a 40gb Maxtor Ata HD and a 60gb Maxtor ata hd. On one of my other computers, i was running the 40gig hd fine when i had problems with the motherboard and thus switched to what i'm currently using. Problem now is I cannot get the MB to detect ANYTHING plugged into my ide cables. Not even the CD Rom drive. I've tried reconfiguring the connectors and it still will not work. I'm checking the jumper settings now. As for now....
Heres my system specs:
Asus A7N8X-X Nforce2
AMD 2500+ Mobile
1024mb DDR400
Geforce4 ti 4200
Aforementioned HD's
Lite-On CdRW
Thanks for any help.

Alright... here's some suggestions...
First - Check the cables for obvious wear and tear... and that they're seated properly on the IDE drives and the motherboard. Switch with known working cables just to make sure it's not the cables!
Second - Check the IDE drives for bent/misaligned pins... and on the motherboard itself
Third - Check the jumpers on the hard drives. Make the two hard drives are on the primary IDE channel and one is set to slave and the other is on master. Set the Cd-RW drive on the secondary IDE channel and make sure it is set to master.
Fourth - After all that, make sure you are connecting the drives correctly. I believe the cable has a blue connecter, and black connector, and a gray connector. Connect the blue one to the primary IDE channel on the motherboard, the black one to the master Hard Drive, and the gray one to the slave Hard Drive. Do the same on the cd-rom drive: Blue into the motherboard (Secondary Channel), and black into the drive...
And now some questions...
Were they working before?
Can you hear them spin up (turn on) when you turn on your machine?
How powerful is your PSU?
That's all I can think of right now...
