i want a Router or gateway whatever u call them
for my network
i want to be able to run a CounterStrike server through it and other servers and be able to play internet games with out LAG
and atleast 2 ports with a built in Switch

I have a Linksys router, and through it im running a ftp server, game server and 2 workstations...I use my main workstation to play on my game server and I very rarely get lag.

have u had any problem??
i am kinda leaning toward the linky because with the Netgear you ogtta set it up thorugh your Serial port

I use a DLink 704 with a game server set in the DMZ and have no problems.

i have the same thing rite now but it is my friends is ther any way i can run multiple servers on diferent computers useing the DLINK??

Im using the Netgear RO318 Router which has 8 ports, it pretty good imho

You will have to set up port-mapping so if you run DIFFERENT servers that require DIFFERENT ports then you could just forward the ports to the IP addresses of the different servers. You can't run 2 web servers behind most routers that uses NAT for public->private addressing.

Also take a look at the SMC Barricade. It's 4 port router. And it has a built in print server, and let me tell you, that is a godsend.

I have an Edimax 4 port router and I have a dedicated CS server set up in the DMZ with my other 3 machines set up behind it and it works great. It has web based setup but you can also go in through the serial port.
