View Full Version : Grills for Delta 38
Does taking off the grill of the delta 38 fan help increase the amount of airflow? Does the grill stop some amount of air? :mad:

not really, you shuld keep the fan, keep in mind how bad it could be if some wires get in there. But no, airflow will not change significantly (not more than 0.2C)
what about the sk6? it doesn't have a grill. Is it still ok? Is it ok if i take it off and leave no grill like the sk6? Theres no wires that are even near it.

Will a grill impede airflow, yes. But the amount it impedes is insignificant. I wouldn't run a delta without a delta for fear of those blades.
i would keep that fingerguard thing on. It would be especially painful if you caught your finger or even your WANG in it. oh man i would kill myself if that happened to me

they do improve air flow, that is if you put your finders in the fan and your finger gets splttered all over the heatsink then it can have a large effect on cooling (and your typing)

I cut my thumb pretty badly on one of those blades. It took a month to heal.

No remote offense intended but... you people are CRAZY. I don't have a grill on there simply because I don't open the case when it’s turned on and my wires are as neat as toothpicks. Seriously, how dumb could one get as to test it out? Everyone including me at the top has a big inquisitive curios’ish mind but there is nothing to be intrusive about.
Input = 1 finger….Output =2.
I want to get grills for all my internal fan-face units (of course I have the outer part grilled) just because I am a semi-american- know which theory I'm talking about? The only problem with the SK6 is that its clips get in the way.

it probably deppends on the grill and how complex it is well i had a bad expirence with one of my 80mm 48 cfm fans and it made a pretty bad gash. the only reason i dont have a fan grill is because i cant aford one to put on there and i am getting the sk6 with the delta 38 cfm so ill be a little slower typing with 3 fingers but ooh well my computer will be cool and hat is all that matters

5 min? You do a lot of house DIY or gardening? Looks like you've got real tough skin on your fingers...
Haha... trying to rate a fan by how much pain it dishes out.
