I'd like to know what the fastest computer I can build would be currently. I know I'm giogn to go for the fx series probably the fx-55 when it comes out, but doesn't that limit the speed of the memory I can get? Here is what I'm thinking currently with parts that are already out, and I do want to save a little money here and there.

Case
Thermaltake Tsunami
CPU
FX-53 socket 939
Motherboard
Asus A8V Deluxe
Memory
1 gig of ? doesn't it only support up to pc3200, i'd really like to get at least pc4000 though...
Video Card
6800GT to overclock to ultra or x800 pro to flash to x800 xt
Hard drives
1 Western Digital 10,000 RPM Raptor
1 250gb 8mb cache HD
Sound Card
Audigy 2 ZS
Drives
DVD-RW Dual Layer 16x
CD-RW

Then some water cooling stuff. That's what I'm looking to build because I've made a ton of money recently. Suggestions please.

yeah, you can give me that money!! lol j/k!

well on the ram, the higher speed rating is for how high the ram is garenteed to run at, but to run at that speed you will have to overclock, so you can get what ever you want in the ram, I recommend the OCZ Extra Bandwith PC3700 1gb, and get two sets if you got alot of money, for 2gb's

Get the 6800Gt, It seems to be faster then ATI's current offering, and it is easier then hell to Oc to Ultra levels

if you want killer speed, then get 2 raptors, and raid them together

also what speakers will you be using? i recommend the klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultra's

if you have any more questions, feel free to ask

and WELCOME TO THE FORUMS!

screw the sound card, unless you really need that studio quality sound. I just think its a lot of money to spend on something just a little better when you can get almost as good quality from onboard sound.

As for the video card, thats going to be another big spender. Research research research. Make sure you get what you want and that it will overclock, and dont you DARE be one of those people that RMA their cards because they cant overclock it well or it wont flash over to an XT.

Other than that, looks like a nice system!

if not the Audigy get the M-Audio Revolution, the M-Audio has better sound quality but it hands off some of its chores to the cpu so that would slow down the FPS a tiny bit, but with that FX-53 it wont make much of a difference!

A card will take some load off the south bridge to. :)

I have a audigy gamer that I've used for the past year or so. I m really impressed by it. I was using the onboard realtek sound on a gigabyte board. The switch from onboard to card was well worth the extra money. I usually listen to tunes while Im gaming online.

Yeah basically the only reason I would get a sound card would be for the higher FPS. When I went from onboard to soundcard on my old computer in ut2k4 my FPS jumped up like 40 frames.

i would save my money and not raid the raptors. Just get a 70 gig raptor and a large slower mass storage drive. (your original setup looks good here)reasoning (http://anandtech.com/storage/showdoc.aspx?i=1491)

i would definately go with the sound card. I second the vote for klipche speakers, get the 2.1s if space/money is a bit of a concern there.

Memory, there are lots of brands and lots of loyalties, for a better idea of what to do, in the now, lurk in the mem forums for a little bit. I can personally endorse mushkin but im not going to claim that its the best, becuase i dont have the experience to do so. Its good stuff though, high quality and good tech support.

Case: I would consider the cooler master wave instead of the thermaltake. Just because the thermaltake is a ripoff of the wave, and sometimes their quality is questionable.

thats about all the input i have
cheers.
