I haven't used SVC, but Sidewinder Computers is an excellent company with great service. They responded to any questions extremely promptly, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. Their shipping fees were a bit high, but not above the norm, since I was ordering from Canada.

Grrr.....
I have to calculate both site's taxes and stuff.

Edit:
Yep sidewinder is cheaper than svc of about $4.

But!! What good is a cheaper item if it comes damaged and poor packaging.. So i'm asking which does a better job of packaging and shipping?

I ordered a SB heatsink, some mosfet heatsinks, and some vga sinks from sidewinder. I believe they ship priority mail. No problems whatsoever and fast shipping.

Yeah, they do ship priority mail.
I'm glad you didn't have any problems at all.

EDIT:

A NewEgg Review on the new Release of DoomIII : "If you don't get this game I will hunt you down and beat you... and with the extra energy I have left, I will work the streets until I have enough money to buy it for you." - Skyy

LOL I saw that review too.. it was hilarious!! LMAO :sn:

I've ordered from both, SVC and Sidewinder. Example #1, ordered a 120x38mm Panaflo from each place.

SVC includes 3 pin tail with 2 wires, rpm doesn't work on these fans, puts raw unpackaged fan in a box with peanuts, it arrives 1 week later, shipping $6.25.

Sidewinder includes 3 pin tail with all 3 wires, rpm doesn't work on these fans, wraps fan in bubble wrap, tapes said bubble wrap, puts in box with peanuts, it arrives 2 days later, shipping $4.95.

SVC is in Cali and I'm in NY and Sidewinder is Ohio (IIRC). Sidewinder always ships same day for me. Even using USPS Priority I get a tracking number. SVC always takes 1-2 days just to ship.

Real kicker, fan was $9.95 at SVC and $14.95 (2 for $22) at Sidewinder. SVC is great on fans, wires, cables, lighting, best prices. But nobody (including NewEgg) matches SVC's packing and OUTSTANDING customer service.

I prefer Sidewinder, but SVC still has them beat on price and I have not received anything damaged for SVC either.

On a side note, 3 pin y-splitter power cables are $3 at Sidewinder and SVC has them for $0.99.

I'm glad you used the fan example. I want to buy a 92mm Enermax.
You said that sidewinder put your fan in bubble wrap but svc did not. I'm kinda picky about my products arriving perfectly to my doorstep.

Well, I think it's going to be sidewinder because it's closer to me and the shipping is less. :santa2:

I just recieved an order from SVC and the packaging was horrible, they just threw everything in a box with peanuts and sent it on its way. USPS did the worst delivery I've ever seen. The box was totaly smashed down on 2 corners, and I could tell it had been thrown around a few times. I've had the same experince with UPS. I'll be using vendors that use FedEx whenever I can from now on.

Good luck.... None of my actual stuff was damaged, but I don't know how they managed that, when I saw the box I was sure my products were gonna be smashed...

I think that Thermalrights packaging is what saved my heatsink...

YEP, just got my SP-97 this minute and the box was bent, ripped, etc, etc.. Good thing it didn't come damaged due to Thermalright's packaging.

sidewinder is very good. i only had a UV light that didnt work when it came in. I just emailed the doods at sidewinder. i should get something back from them soon. packaging is the best, even though the box looked like **** after USPS was done with it.

fedex is the best. they are always on time and will make every effort to be on time. only thing i dont like about fedex is that i live in canada and they charge us tax and customs.

USPS is ok but the best for avoiding tax if your ordering from canada. all the boxes i ever got from them looked like it was kicked around.

Both are good. Sidewinder is smaller and I think the quality is better, though SVC might have better deals and certainly more selection.

Gary at Sidewinders is great to deal with though, and it's a fantastic business overall. SUPPORT THE LITTLE GUY!!!

I'm glad you guys like sidewinder.

SVC tends to have better deals but for shipping and packaging it is all Sidewinder. They also use USPS Priority so you get it faster and most times it out the next day

I haven't actually bought from any of the sites, but I'm about to make a purchase from sidewindercomputers.

Their service up to now has been insane... I am thinking about buying a tornado fan and using their fan controller to slow it down, but I wasn't sure how loud it would be on lower volts so I sent them a mail. Gary replied after a couple of minutes, tested it and sent me a mail with the result 15 minutes later...

And of course, what's important for me... They ship internationally, and I live in Norway so that's kind'a important.

I've had nothing but bad results from SVC with regard to shipping time. Packaging was ok I guess but the stuff I bought wasn't fragile.

I keep buying from them because they offer products others don't. However, my first choice is always Newegg.

SVC has good prices and shipping is cheap, but they use UPS and they SUCK. They also took 4 business days just to get it to UPS. Good prices, good packaging, but their shipping department sucks. I haven't used Sidewinder though. I really wish all businesses used FedEx.

If you order from SVC, just make sure you use the USPS priority mail option if they still offer it, you will get your package faster.
