Is anybody ever on the overclockers.com Clan server? It seems like whenever I look there's nobody there.

Also, have you guys thought about making the server Instagib? That takes a lot more skill (in my opinion) than regular play.

Arcadians, how much is it costing you to keep the server up? Any more than your normal phone bill/broadband bill?

Ya know, I dont reallly know..
I can tell you that my internet costs $50 a month
and
my electric bill is $64 for 4 computers running 24/7
So if I were to guess around $20 a month as of now. I will be adding more computers shortly that will drop the average.

Good question its got me thinking, ill have to sit down and figure it out..But why do you ask??

Yeah, I was thinking of running one of my own. I'd have to purchase a static IP address, though, and I don't know if I wanna do that since I'm splitting the phone bill with two roommies, and I don't know how much that would add to the bill. I'll have to contact Qwest about that. But thanks for the info.

You don't need to purchase a static ip address all you need to do is use a dynamic dns service like dns2go.com or zerohype.com to redirect to your game server, it worked fine when i was running my ut servers.

you may already have DNS from your isp already. it seems most cable broadband providers do this, i'm not sure about DSL though. ping -a <your IP that was assigned to you via DHCP> if you get a response that includes a DNS name in the format <hostname>.city.state.home.com for example you can use this address as your UT server. this may or may not work for you since all ISP's are not the same.
