I have designs for a prototype heatsink/waterblock that is going to be a very effective item. It's just one of those gut feelings you get. I was wondering if anyone can make it for me to test out?
I would send you the designs, along with a non-disclosure agreement and you can email me a quote. I will then pay you up front for the materials.
I have tried this with someone already and it sucked monkey balls (rubber toy balls that monkeys play with). I mean the guy was nice, he was very considerate, and had a lot of out of pocket because he messed up a few times. It also took him like 9 months to make it.
So if anyone can do this, and if anyone knows someone who can do this, PLEASE let me know. Watercooling is just a tad quieter than fans heh...
Thanx-
James

Talk to machining shops around town. I personally like to do mockups in 3D Studio first and then do a clay one to see how hard it might be to assembel

What type of machining will be needed? Lathe? Verticle mill? Horizontal mill? If it requires mill work, will any of the mill work require the use of a rotory table? If it requires mill work, are there any curved, or 45 degree passages, that neccesitate the use of a CNC machine? All this will play a big role as to how much it will cost, and who is willing to do the work.

I don't even know what most of those tools do jeff. I mean I can guess about the vertical and horizontal mills, but I am just a computer enthusiast. Machining is not anything I know about. How would I go about finding a shop that can do this for me? Where do I need to look? I am really appreciative about anything that you can help with. Thank you again.

ok, well i know a VERY good machinist bloke, infortunately this is in the UK and i assume you are an american, if you like i could ask him what it would cost (would need designs etc tho) i will convert to dollars for you (its probably cheaper over there though) i wont breathe a word about it to anyone and the guy who does all that kind of work aint into computers ETC so would NOT get all excited and tell ppl.... in fact he makes model jet engines for a living, and i know a lot of things he's doing that i aint allowed to talk about!
anyway it's your call, PM me if you are interested.

James,
I do machine work at the shop. If your willing to E-mail a blueprint I'll look it over and let you know if I can do the work. If I can't do the work, I will at least be able to tell you what machines are required to do that work (or if the design can even be made, as often design allowences must be made during the engeneering period due to machining limitations). I won't reproduce your design, and won't disclose any info(I might make one for myself if I feel it's a design worthy of personal use though, hope thats OK?).
