I've got 3 HD's installed in my PC.
1. File Storage drive = 80GB
2. 160GB IDE Drive w/OS installed
3. 160GB SATA Drive w/OS installed
Drive #3 has two partitions
Drive #2 has a single partition... XP doesn't recognize drives with partitions this large
So I'm installing a fresh copy of XP on drive #3, XP starts and says it needs to check the file integrity on disc 2. It counts down from 10 and starts doing it's thing... *FIXING* my files.
WAIT A MINUTE!!! I wasn't paying attention when this process started, and it screwed the contents of that HD.
Is this not every bit as serious as reformatting a drive or creating a partition? Don't you get at least one or two warnings before doing anything permanent?
I've got my stuff backed up, so it's no great loss... it just pisses me off.
