THe 50C thing is correct, especially with Intel CPUs. Now, as for a HSF, I really think there are way to many to list. But there is one company that I can tell you to stay away from, that is the Orbs. Do NOT get an ORB. Here are some sites that will give you some good HSFs
www.2cooltek.com
www.coolerchips.com
www.3dfxcool.com
And if you dont know which performs better, check the HSF reviews that could be found on the front of the page.

do not go for a copper heatsink, they are good for high power cpus but they do not get rid of heat quick enough, your cpu dosnt produce much heat so go for somethink like a fop38

I have not found this to be true, my CPU does not get that hot it never did even with stock cooling but when i added the Gladiator\Goldengate [copper] my temps dropped quite a bit.
Keeping your temps below 40C at full load is recomended [well atleast in my books] Remmeber when you push your CPU while overclocking they can get tempermental about temps, point in case if my CPU gets to 35C at full load i can exspect lock ups but i'm pushing her hard.
One of the best deals around is the Gladiator\Goldengate theres a link to it in Cyber deals [around 25 bucks] and this HSF is as good as the rest of the top of the line HSF's. One note you can always use this HSF on your next CPU if you ever upgrade.
Is your 550e a slot cpu or fc-pga?
