well im going to be switching my isp soon to another DSL company but they require u to have ur own DSL modem or u have to pay 10$ per month extra to rent it :(

so im getting this deal...

Speadstream 4060 DSL USB MODEM for $10 including shipping :)

but the problem is that its a USB only modem... and in the future if i plan to get another computer and router how am i suppose to hook the router up then? sinse its only USB and the router requires ethernet

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm not sure if it's possible or easy to network with a usb dsl modem. I've used this modem (http://www.netopia.com/equipment/products/cayman/c_adsl.html) in the past. Since it has a built-in router all I had to do was plug in the computers that I wanted to network into it.

You could use Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) built into windows. That would make the computer that is directly connected to teh modem, act as if it were a router. The only downside to this, is that the ICS machine has to be on to get internet to the other LAN computers. You can hook the modem up to the USB, and your LAN up to the ethernet. This is how I have my setup at home with my cable internet. Using a regular router is a better plan, but if all you will have is USB, then ICS is the next best thing. Make sure you run a firewall program on the machine directly connected to the modem though.
