at where i work they just upgraded all the computers including their server. They have a couple old pII and maybe 1 pI and a Dell 2300 (poweredge???) server with a pII and 2 seagate barracuda 9.1gb scsi drives. They are wanted to get rid of it all so i said id take them...

Ive never used a server and that is what interested me the most. So what are some possible things that this old server can do for me. Im thinking just linux with folding on the other computers.

Thanks for any ideas.

If ya want to learn Linux througly then this is the chance. grab it install linux on it and learn it and do all the mesing with it so no need to worry about the daa. If i were you i'll trmove to the scsi hdd and put to the normal working machien and put a normal hdd to the server and install linux on it and learn it. Currentley I'm trying to instal linux into a p1 166MHz with 32mb ram :) Hopefully I'm trying to install a old linux kernel and try to learn it.

I suggest debian, It is the easiest to learn and makes it very very easy to install programs using Debian packets
