Does 250/400 sound like stock speeds to you guys for a 5200. I just downloaded RivaTuner and I admit that I am a newb when it come to OC'ing my GPU. Any of you familiar with Rivatuner, I could really use you help. I dont wan to go in blindly and fry my graphics!! :bang head
Yes, those are stock speed for a 5200.

Cool, I guess I can just use the sliders to whatever frequency that I want and then test it?
Make sure that you have cooling on your GPU and Memory. If you only have the stock HS and nothing on your memory, your OC will be very limited.
I suggest at least getting some memory heatsinks before OCing. Maybe even get a better GPU heatsink/fan combo. Try either newegg.com or extremepc.com for different products.

A little change of plans. I uninstalled Riva and activated CoolBits in the registry. Ok, with that in mind, it gives you an option(button) Detect Optimal Speeds. I clicked the button and it gave me 264/430. I rebooted and here I am. Its a little better than stock. Do you think Ill be able to go much high. And what exactly is an artifact.
Depending on the cooling, the card and other factors you could be able to get a little more, or a lot more. Every card is different, you will just have to see what you can get.
An artifact is when the graphics start messing up. Basically it is something that is not supposed to be there. You will notice when you start to see them. I can remember the specifics, but you will be able to tell what is set too high by the type of artifacting that you see. You might want to do a little research on that.
