well.......have a friend with a P2B who is getting constant lock ups. Disable the Live card, or remove it completely, and the problems go away.

Sooooo.........the friend upgrades to a Creative 5.1 card and gets the same results. Change PCI slots or memory or the processor, and still have the same problem. No other cards (cept the G2 GTS) are plugged in, and the errors are always the same. Even after a fresh install of 98. Nothing running in the background, but this machine refuses to run with either card.

Any suggestions?

I've seen an almost similar problem. The fault seemed to lie with the SoundBlaster 16bit emulation not being compatible with some BIOS's

Suggest you boot in safe mode, and disable 16 bit emulation.....
