I'v recently built another AMD rig, but now I want to make an intel rig. I was thinking of getting a P4 2.8E(is this a good choice, I'll take something else with equal power, for less) and 512mb cheap ram, i already have the HDD and GPU. Whats a good cheap motherboard(no overclocking) that I can use for a P4 2.?? HT? Also if I get a 2.4E would I be able to easily OC it to a 2.8 on stock cooling and cheap ram? I will not be buying more than stock on this rig, because its mostly for office, internet, email, photoshop, etc..

Jarlaxe, if you are considering a Prescott " Cheap" is not the right way to go .

Prescotts require strong boards as they run hot and are power hogs . If you are going to overclock them get yourself a good 865 or 875 Chipset board

My choices would be
1- MSI Neo Series ( my favorite , see my signature  )
2- IC7max
3 Asus

All these boards should handle a prescott

Another thing you will have to consider is the heat issue with a prescott

Just do a seach in the Intel CPU forum boards and you will see what I mean

My signature has a link from Intel on how you can overcome this problem

If you want a simple powerful machine go with a Northwood

Good Luck
Dave
