Hey with all the new naming conventions for intel and the EE''s E's and other stuff I am kind of getting confused.. I just wanted to confirm if this was a 3.4C -> Pentium IV-3.4Ghz 800FSB 512K HT (box)

yes, that is a "C".
a EE would have 2mb of cache, a presscot would have 1mb, northwoods have the 512 you mentioned.

The northwood core seems to top out at 3.6 or 3.7 or so without any special cooling. The chip is expensive indeed so most people get the cheaper, lower clocked ones (2.8 comes to mind) and clock them to its max.

I run a 3.4c, ( picked it up cheap), and run daily at 3940 water cooled, at 1.725v. It will do a tad over 4ghz, but at the expense of too much voltage in my eyes.

1.725 isn't already too much voltage??
i see degredation in your future ;)

I don't :) Been running it that way for a Long time now, No Ill affects whatsoever, nor do I expect any, as this board does under volt a tad.

I still believe that degredation is just a property of all faulty northwood chips, adding higher voltages just brings them down faster to their destain death.
If you can cope with the heat output(in your situation, you can). I say as you may say, "go for it"
Live it while its alive in its day(which IS today).
