numlock dos question

Hey guys, Im using dos for my cnc controller and I accidently turned numlock on in the bios before reformatting and for some reason the ability to enter the bios is nonexistant now, so Im stuck using that function key ALL THE TIME AND IT DRIVES ME NUTS! the laptop is a compaq armada 1560 and I tried downloading the new dos bios firmware and installing it and it did nothing. does anyone have any ideas? I have tried inserting numlock=off into config.sys and autoexec.bat and have had no success. I beleve its dos6.
