problem or windows 98 flutter??

heya... just a quick one.

a got something i've never seen before with windows... when i got back from my gf's house this evening my computer was hard-locked with a single flashing dos-cursor on the screen.. in the middle(??!). i rebooted, and it booted into windows in 640*480*16 colours.. wtf??? no options in display. so i reinstalled my gf2mx400 drivers and got crashes on the next 3 boot attempts.

and now it seems fine...

what do you reckon.. serious problem or just a random occurence? i so don't feel like reinstalling windows right now!!

Mine use to do that but it had to do with high temps. It would reboot on it's own then get stuck after initializing the RAID controller with the same blank screen with the cursor flashing top left corner. Finally get it to Windows and it would be in the same resolution settings as you mentioned.

Never has happened with any OS I've used except for WinME. It was an overheating problem though. If that's not the case then I have no idea...graphics card overheating perhaps?? Sorry but is all I can come up with in my case.
