I recently removed my heatsink but my cpu was stuck to the heatsink and one of the pins broke off!

I have tried the cpu in 2 motherboards but they no longer boot up know :temper:
I have attached a picture(its actualy a prescott in the pik but the pins are the same) showing the missing pin is there anything i can do to try and get it work i.e wire mod?

Thanks jenko.

Try to insert one small copper wire on the socket, so the wire takes contact to cpu where that pin has broken and insert the cpu. One guy from finland got 3.2C working with that tech.

could you chip be dead then?

If you have quite the steady hand, you could solder a wire there and run it directly into the socket, where it goes.

Tried that i got a needle that i strapped it to my soldering iron and put loads of solder where the needle was strapped.
But i could not get the solder to take where it meets at the cpu for love or money.

i think soddering is going to be your ONLY bet. and that means you will have to touch the cpu metal with a sodder iron for VERY little amount of time so the sodder is attracted to it,

i know

stick a piece of wire into the cpu hole, hold the iron to the wire and let sodder drip down the wire holding the wire in place

there no other way

I dont think the pin gets directly soldered to the cpu i believe the pin gets soldered onto a track in a waifered multi layered PCB?

just connect metal with metal. electricity likes metal and metal likes electricity. METAL :attn: :attn: :attn: :attn: :attn:
