What would be the best sound card for at home recording? Im not 100% sure on what the person would be doing with it. I would like it to work with 5.1 speakers and have like Midi support because I think thats what hes using. Im kind of confussed but I figured the best sound card would support everything like this. I looked at the audigy 2 but heard bad things about them and quality.
Price doesnt really matter too much as long as it isnt rediculous.

THanks.

So this is what I should be looking at?

i'm not a pro on this but for a recording card the last thing you want is an audigy. take a look at the m-audio line of cards and choose one based on your needs. the delta is a very capable card, but i do not know about 5.1 sound. most cards are meant for stereo recording. i think your price tag is going to jump astronomically for 5.1 recording.

midi should be supported on just about all of these cards.

I want to just be able to play on 5.1 speakers with it not record 5.1 sorry.

well depending on your playback device most current cards should play a stereo stream in a simulated multichannel.
