View Full Version : 9800 pro heat
i touched my heatsink while my computer was on (internet browsing) and the pain made me cry. anyone else have an extremely hot heatsink? one more note, if i feel the exhaust comming out of my case, its pretty cool, so the heat isnt from lack of good airflow.

The stockers do get pretty toasty. I tore mine off and stuck a big AMD heatsink on there. It barely gets warm.

the stock heatsink on most 9800pros is utter crap. Rid yourself of that and get a vga silencer..... they go together like peas and carrots.:p
i've had great results underclocking the video card. when i play games, i just use radlinker to overclock it again for convienience. any idea how low is safe to go, and am i going to have any problems with it underclocked (now at 200/200)?

what if u use a zalman zm80c...is that better than stock or no? no overclocking
i'm not going to buy anything extra yet... just messing around with what i have. i've had some major problems with artifacts when underclocking. jumping straight to 200/200 gave me artifacts, but i was able to take it down gradually. but of course, when i ran a game, i got serious artifacts from such a large clock jump. anyone know what to do here?
fixed. its the memory that doesnt like jumping around. its now at 200/336 in windows, and jumping back and forth with games at 411/357, hooray. more testing to follow, for now, i'm tired.
