hey i'm wondering how to properly test my idle and load temps of my cpu. like how long i should wait before testing and the procedure. thanks a lot for any input
for idle, just let it sit after boot up for about 20 minutes. Load, just load it up for 20 or so minutes w/ Folding@home, SETI@Home, or Prime95, or a good game (Quake 3, UT) and check then.

Oni is rite its that easy, when your online here for a while check temps that's idle, when running something CPU intensive like Seti or other burn in programs for a while check temps when they have stabilized or have got too there highest temp readings and thats full load.

Just keep in mind that your temps could be WAY off if you're relying on the motherboard sensor. I have a friend that has an Abit board that says his 1.1Ghz air cooled (WBK) processor is running 76deg F and his system temperature is 75deg F in a room that is 75deg F. No matter how many times I tell him that his system is actually warmer than that.. heh.. he just don't believe me because his temperature monitor says its so... almost makes me laugh :)
