I'm looking for a LINUX or a UNIX that is friendly with other OS, doesn't need me to format an entire hard drive (I already have a partition that I can split up), and is moderately user friendly...(hehe)

I'm looking at either Slackware, Debian, or OpenBSD
It'd be coexisting with NT 5

Anyone with any experience with w2k dual booting, I'd be appreciative of any and all info/oppinions...

You said that you want a user friendly distro but all the ones you mentioned are not user friendly at all. If easy setup/opperation is desired go with either Mandrake or SuSE. Redhat isn't bad either but I prefer the other 2.
I have dual booted w2k and linux many times. The best way to go about it is to use fat32 for w2k. Make your fat32 partition and format it /s to make it bootable to dos. The reason for this is the w2k install will put it's boot manager in it's boot partition along with dos instead of the mbr. Next do the linux install and let lilo install in the mbr.

I like both SuSe and Mandrake for Linux options. Both are extremely user friendly and easy to set up. I like Red Hat as well although not quite as easy to use as the other two.

BSD is ok. I have FreeBSD myself and it's a pain to get the hang of. It's not entirely different than Linux but is going through the same growing pains Linux has already been through. When configured correctly, however, it's very stable and a terror when coming to net-based apps which it is optimized for.
