View Full Version : Abit BX6 and Celeron 800??? help!
I have now Celeron2 800@1066 on my Asus P2B rev 1.01,
and it is almost stable. sometimes it hangs because of my
PC100 memory. (895MHz is really stable!!). But now my
question: My friend has Abit BX6 rev1 and we need to know
that is it possible to use this mobo for Celeron800???
Some nformation please!
maybe. if its like the bx6 2, you would probably be better off getting a p3 800e for this board.

A P3-800E may perform better for sure, but she needs the same settings as a Celeron 800 (8x100Mhz FSB) so he will prolly run into the same problems. I have one 64MB PC100 CAS222 stick doing 132Mhz@333 right now, but if your's is a PC100 CAS333 or 322 you can forget about a stable 133Mhz FSB. What you should do is to get a stick of PC133 SDRAM first, preferrably CAS222. Try a single stick on both those mainboards and see if this stabilizes 133Mhz. My own system seems to be very stable now at 132Mhz after solving some IRQ-sharing issues, but my 256MB PC133 is generic CAS333 crap, so I've ordered a 256MB PC133 CAS222 stick to see if this will make any difference. Even if I can't raise the FSB anymore, running 222 instead of 333 at the same FSB will make memory-access 10 to 15% faster anyway. BTW; did you EVER try 132 or 134FSB? Cuz my mobo will not do 133! At 132FSB the PCI speed is exactly 33Mhz so... (I'm at 1.85Vc and 3.5Vio now)
My own mobo supports only 66,75,83,100,103,112,133 FSB.
My settings for memory are Cas222. Gameplaying only grashes
sometimes with 133FSB. Other softwares works well..exept
3Dmark2001. Just want to be sure about Celeron800 and
Abit BX6, because I will change my mobo with my friend.
check your bios to see if it has a 8 and 8.5 mutiplier. if it doesnt then dont bother trying the celly 800.
oh wait, what the hell, you have a celly 800. just plug it in your friends motherboard. if it doesnt boot then it doesnt work.
simple. problem solved.
and lancelt, i know you love your celly 800, i only recomend a p3 800e because its an older chip and it might be more compatible.

LOL! Ebola, but both P3-800E and Celeron 800 have a locked multiplier and will run at 8 times whatever FSB you set, regardless if the BIOS supports it or not...
yea i know the intel chips are multiplier locked and it doesnt matter but it the higher multipliers are listed then theres a better chance that its supported.
