Which of these 2 would be best for my setup?

Well, the problem is that you're going to take a performance hit in all probability. I believe those are the bh-5 sticks, right?

If you could swing just a little more, I would suggest that instead you choose from the following group of choices for your rig (these are all using the new Samsung chips which will give you fast timings in the range you will be operating. They are pricier, between $282 for the Corsair, $289 for the Kingston and $333 for the OCZ. I think the Corsair, which is only a few more than what you've linked (2 x 135 = 270), would be your best bet, that or the Kingston. The OCZ appears to clock higher, but that is of no concern to you unless you have one of those NF7 boards that runs 250 fsb, and most don't. It is timings that you should be after. These are all going to run at fast timings in the range that you are looking for. They are not bh-5, but they are as close as you are going to get from a new product. Also provided is a link to a ram review that included all of these sticks. Just look at the DDR400-DDR466 results, which should be the range in which you will run.

thanks, I cannot afford that much right now unfortunately but do plan to add another 512 at some point. I just need some good 512mb choice to replace what I just sent back so I can get my PC working again but will still be good enough to oc a bit and work in dual when that time arrives :-/

I went back and added some stuff, at the same time you were posting, so ignore it. I assumed, and you clearly did not state this, that you were looking for a set. Sorry, my bad.

Are you getting your original stick back, after repairs?

If so, then consider getting, instead of an Odd Man Out 512 stick, a matched set of 2 x 256 for the time being. You could still run dual-channel with the single 512 in one channel and the 2x256 in the other, then when you get your RMA back, you could either sell or keep the set. It would be easier to sell or use a set than a single stick. Just something to consider.

Actually no I'm not getting it back, it was refurb at newegg when I bought it and it worked ok for 2 days and I got to whats in my sig and memtest was ok. then it just died or something odd happened the 2nd night and pc rebooted itself and I could no longer get anything over 200 and memtest would throw errors like crazy. I made a post about it asking what could have happened, everyone that replied was baffled and said RMA it.

So basically I am back to square #1 as if I am buying my 1st stick of memory for this PC and is why I need some help picking out something I can be happy with
