Hello all,
I have already post this on Shuttle mobo section..
My setup produces artifacts even on stock frequencies of the RADEON 411MHz core and 365MHz mem...If I underclock to 408MHz the core, the artifacts are less..
The card is Club ATI 9800xt 256MB
These artifacts appear on metalic surfaces when they reflect light.
ATItool reports 68-70C when idle and up to 79C under load (the maximum I have seen).
For testing I have put a 120mm fan blowing direct on the RADEON dropping to 64C idle and 70C max on load with case open. The artifacts are there even with 411/365 MHz.. So I believe that maybe is not temprature problem of the RADEON...
Also note that this is a second Club ATI RADEON 9800XT with the same problem.
Here is the question
Do you guys think that the on board power supply can not handle the load of the 9800xt and produces spikes ?
Or just the club atis are crappy when you plug them in an nforce2 mobo?
(a friend of mine has the same card on a TYAN dual athlon and he can overclock to 424 with the stock cooling and with no artifacts)
Here is the setup
Box Chiftech full tower 2 80mm intake fans in front 1 120mm outake fan on top
ANTEC truepower 550w
AN35N-ULTRA 400 latest BIOS
Club ATI 9800xt 256 stock cooling agp x8 fast writes
BOXED ATHLON XP 3200+ @ stock freq.
2x512 MB RAM Twinmos 3200 2.5
Adaptec 29160
Plextorwriter 401240S
Plextor 40x
ATLAS10k 18.4GB u160
NEC 1300A dvd writer
80 GB seagate
All settings in mobo BIOS are the default.
winxp sp1 dx9c
catalyst 4.7
Thanks in advance for helping
