View Full Version : Safe voltages?

I was wondering what might be safe voltages to run my Sparkle Power 530 Watt PSU at...

It has adjustable pots inside (5 of them actually, and all very easily placed on a voltage regulator perpindicular to the main PCB) that control the 3.3, 5, and I assume the 12v (my motherboard lacks 12v rail detection for some reason) rails, and I'm guessing the other pots are for auto shut-down in case the psu is too overloaded.

Anyways, right now I'm running my 3.3 rail at 3.85 and my 5 at 5.75.. I've yet to change the other pots as I don't know what they do for sure.

Is it possible to destroy my computer by running the rails this high?

You are right on the ragged edge man. I don't recommend running you voltages over 10% of their rated voltage requirements. The capacitors on your boards tend to pop over time. Not a good thing.

Dayum! Those are pretty high even to my standards. Try setting them to:

+12v = 12.30v
+5v = 5.40v
+3.3v = 3.50v

These are my settings after i modded my Antec true 550w.

Use a multimeter while adjusting them. I also cuncur with Electron. Some boards cannot handle high rails like that and the caps will pop killing the board instantly.

I've heard of cases where people run their 3.3v rail off of the 5 before. Anyways I'll turn them down a bit just in case.
